When you transpose a range of data, rows become columns and columns become rows. Power-user allows you to easily transpose ranges in Excel, with various interesting options.
To transpose a range:
- Click Transpose from the Excel ribbon
- Select the range you would like to transpose
- Select the Paste option of your choice:
- Transpose as values: the transposed range will be created as values only.
- Keep source formulas: the transposed range will have the same formulas as the range of origin (adjusted of the range offset).
- Link to source range: each cell of the transposed range will be linked to the corresponding cell in the original range. For instance, if the original range is A1:D9, the first cell of the transposed range will be "=A1", the next will be "=A2", etc.
- Link to source range (dynamic array): the transposition of the original range will be made leverging the Excel TRANSPOSE dynamic function. This means that if the size of the original range changes, the transposed range can also be adjusted dynamically.
- Select the formattion option to apply:
- Use Destination format to NOT paste format in the transposed range.
- Use Keep source formatting to paste the cell format as well as the cell values/formulas.
- In Paste in, select where the transposed copy should be created.
- Click OK to validate.
