With the Power-user add-in you can easily add custom characters within existing strings of text. This feature makes it very simple and can replace the more complex alternatives of combining all the Excel text functions to achieve the desired result.
The Add characters feature can add strings to your text in different ways:
- Add a specific character, or add a variable range. For instance, you can add the content of column B at a specific position within the text of column A.
- Add before or after a specific position or delimiter, which can be:
- Before or after a specific number of characters (ex: after the 3rd character in each cell of your data source)
- Before or after a specific number of words (ex: after the 2nd word in each cell of your data source)
- Before or after the first occurence of a specific character (ex: after the first ocurrence of the "@" symbol)
- Before or after every occurence of a specific character (ex: add "MUSK" after every occurence of "Elon" in the data source)
- You can also choose to add this text as values or as formulas, in case you need to update the source data for instance.
